Ethos
‘The Sodalis Charter’
What we believe
We believe that mission-driven organisations do the important work of making the world better. But growing that impact can take a toll from the inside. Passionate teams are often stretched past their limits, wrestling with tangled operations, messy governance, and the pressure to achieve more with less. And when you’re constantly firefighting, it can be hard to find the time to reflect, let alone to reach out to other organisations that are going through the same thing. We want to help change that dynamic. When teams get the practical support they need, they can stop running in survival mode, connect with their peers, and transform competition into genuine solidarity.
Our vision
A world where mission-driven organisations have the strength, support and solidarity they need to create lasting change.
Our values
1. Solidarity
We believe mission-driven organisations are stronger when they support one another. We want to encourage collaboration, shared learning, and mutual support rather than unnecessary competition.
2. Practicality
Good intentions need workable structures behind them. We focus on changes that are realistic, useful, and can actually be put into practice.
3. Partnership
We work alongside organisations, not above them. We listen first, develop solutions together, and respect the knowledge that already exists within the organisation.
4. Purpose
Structures, processes, and growth should serve the purpose - not become ends in themselves. We help organisations become more effective without losing sight of why they exist.
5. Resilience
We want organisations to become stronger without becoming dependent on us. Our work should leave behind clearer ways of working, stronger internal capability and healthier organisations for the long term.
Who we are
Sodalis is a community of freelancers dedicated to helping idealists turn their good intentions into practical, real-world progress. Mission-driven organisations need more than conviction and enthusiasm to achieve their goals, but often face internal friction, funding issues and problems with engagement. That’s where we aim to help. By acting as a collaborative partner or companion - a sodalis - we support organisations by helping them find better structures, processes, and ways of working so that they can spend less time on organisational headaches and more on improving the world.
What we do
We work alongside your operation, helping to untangle your internal structures - from clear decision-making and smooth operations to community engagement and partnership strategy. Together, we develop solutions that will get your team out of firefighting mode and back to doing real work that really matters.
Our mission
To bring together experienced independent professionals to help purpose-led organisations navigate growth and change, untangle internal challenges, and implement practical solutions without losing sight of their purpose, people, or identity.
